- Four wheels with 3600 mobility, to move the lab anywhere with utmost ease.
- Slots are made in Eva foam for all the items to prevent the items from getting misplaced.
- Dump bucket for proper disposal of waste generated during science experiments.
- Unit is lockable.
How is it prepared?
- Engineered by a team of experts.
- The portable unit is designed with quality chemicals and apparatus.
- Most of the glass apparatus replaced by plastic-ware keeping two things as priority:
ii) minimize the damage
136 different items organised in the Mobile smart lab.
Target Group?
- Customised as per the curriculum prescribed by State and Central boards of education from class IV to X to suit the needs of students and teachers.
- It covers wide range of subjects like mathematics, physics, chemistry and biology.
- Customised as per the curriculum prescribed by State and Central boards of education from class IV to X to suit the needs of students and teachers.
- It covers wide range of subjects like mathematics, physics, chemistry and biology.
Mobile smart lab provides:
- Engaging hands- on investigation matched to the Central & State board’s curriculum.
- Encouragement to teachers and students to gain practical experience through the well-designed experiments.
- Instruction manual on board.
- Accessible to students and a minimal space of 4’x 2’ x 3’.
- Low-cost solution for bridging the gap between theoretical classroom learning to practical experiences.
Problem Statement/Need Assessment
Laboratories are real places for teaching and learning science. The students often learn science without performing or even observing a single experiment. Pudami Publications, through its Mobile smart lab, gives the students in schools a chance to learn science by performing experiments, thus giving them not only the pleasure of "learning by doing" but also rendering the subject enjoyable and easy to understand. They provide students with opportunities to solve the real problems and develop clear understanding. Everyone acknowledges the need for better teaching practices in science. It is generally observed that many children lose their interest in science before they enter middle school. Since the teachers are not trained properly, they fail to inspire their students as well. Science is taught by memorization of notes dictated by the teachers. Very few teachers are prepared to instill in their students the importance and wonders of science, or the nature of science as a correct way of thinking that is required to succeed in our increasingly scientific and technological world.
One of the best features is that it is accessible to students and a minimal space of 4’x 2’ x 3’. As it is fully Mobile and has lockable storage, it can be stored safely at the end of the science lessons or moved to a secure area. The cart is fully configurable and provides a cost-effective solution for teaching science without the need to provide a fully-equipped science lab.
It is through such an attempt that we hope to inculcate and nurture a scientific attitude among the school children.

Objectives
Mobile smart lab focuses on gaining knowledge through research infused with the concept of inquiry based learning with the following objectives:
- To contribute in allowing the students and teachers to conduct experiments to gain hands-on experience to understand the concepts better.
- To develop in depth understanding of concepts.
- To learn to apply concepts learned in the class to new situations.
- To experience basic phenomena –first hand - to clear basic concepts and doubts.
- To develop critical and qualitative thinking.
- To develop experimental and data analysis skills.
- To learn to use scientific apparatus.
- To learn to recognize chemicals and estimate chemical reactions.
- To develop reporting skills (oral and written).
- To improve the knowledge and academic performance of students in science.
- To increase students’ interest and enthusiasm in science subjects and improve their conceptual and practical understanding of the topics taught.
Proposed Strategy
A custom built table sized laboratory, with the required Laboratory equipment pertaining to Physics, Chemistry, Biology and Mathematics will be provided to each school. Due to their mobility, science trolleys can help teachers to take science anywhere. Science carts can be transported outside, throughout buildings, placed at the front of lecture halls, classes, assemblies and other events to be used as a teacher demonstration station. This is especially useful for schools that may not have a fixed laboratory and want to keep chemicals away from young children.
i) Installation and supply of Mobile science labs to schools.
ii) Training and demo for teachers and students on the use of apparatus. With the help of science teachers a list of experiments pertaining to the existing school curriculum in the physics, chemistry biology & math will be prepared. The experiments will be low cost and locally contextualized as per the state-government prescribed syllabus for the easy understanding of the students.
iii) Lastly, students will work independently with teachers to perform various set of experiments. Hands-on techniques and experiments will be used to promote experiential learning for children. Apart from teaching & demonstrating through experiments, students will be trained to teach their peers. These little scientists will perform actual experiments with state-of-the-art science equipment that have real world applications.
Monitoring & Evaluation
A formal assessment/feedback form will be developed that will evaluate the Mobile smart lab & the content of its manual. The questions that could be interpreted to have particular significance relative to the Mobile smart lab are:
Whether or not the equipment & chemicals are adequate to support effective learning?
Experiments conducted are pertaining to the existing school curriculum in the physics, chemistry, biology &mathematics.
Whether or not the students are more interested in the subject now than they were before the Mobile smart lab?
Level of excitement & enthusiasm felt for individual experiments or the Mobile smart lab as a whole.
Each curriculum experiment is designed to enrich existing classroom education, provide students with highly-relevant experiential learning opportunities, and help develop the scientific and critical thinking skills needed for today’s careers.
To find out that the expected results have been achieved or not, following point will be considered:
- Students are able to identify the difference between acid-base reactions.
- Students are able to identify different chemicals and their properties.
- Students are familiar with experimental apparatus and the experiments which are applicable.
- Students can perform various experiments and are able to understand different scientific theories and concepts.
- Students are developing interest in scientific research with Mobile smart lab.
- They have started observing various things and carrying out different experiments, their reasoning skills are honed and they have started thinking deeply on theoretical concepts introduced in the lectures.
Conclusion
Students are not likely to choose science due to lack of learning resources in schools. This would be forcing students to abandon dreams of studying science. Mobile smart lab is needed as it is recognized that educational institutes that combine classroom teaching with science experiments are able to derive the best results for their students.
If the Mobile smart labs used effectively, it can transform the scenario. Schools thus play a vital role in bringing up the next generation of engineers and doctors.
